SKI TRIP PREP......3 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE!

We are going to Breckenridge Colorado next weekend so we had to try on our snowboarding clothes to make sure that they still fit from last year.  All of the kids LOVE to snowboard, but Nick was the most excited of the 3 kids to try on his stuff days before the trip
NEW snow pants.....OLD ski goggles......but do they fit well enough to rough the powder on the mountain?

Testing the snowboard down hill stance......
This is Nick's foam surf board that he uses in the pool, but you get the idea!
Well, do they work..........................OH YEAH they do!!
Now let's see if my new boots are really waterproof?  Let's test them out in the swimming pool
Will they keep my feet nice and dry and are they comfy with my thick wool socks?
"Look Mom, my feet are still dry and toasty warm!"  "They are perfect.....and they are just like Daddy's....I can even wear them for hunting season!!"  DOUBLE SCORE
Here's Madison
She looks like a little ski bunny!!  We did not get a pic of Savannah, even though she cannot wait to hit the slopes either.  What a fun trip it will be!!

Thank you, Lord for all that You have created for us to enjoy....Thank you for family trips, pure, soft snow......and for new snow gear!

SAVANNAH.......WHAT CAN I SAY

Savannah found the sticker that was on the new alarm clock that we bought for the kids room at the lakehouse and decided to wear it.
She thought that it would be funny to be "sleeping" with an alarm clock time sticker on her head....Do you get the sleeping vs alarm clock irony?!?!?!?
It doesn't get any cuter than that!!
I love you little girl....never stop being your care free playful little self!!

PINEWOOD DERBY (CUB SCOUT)

My boys were busily working on their Pinewood Derby car for the "Big Race" next Saturday up at the church.  There are SO MANY rules for the Pinewood Derby cars.  They are carved out of 1 solid BLOCK of wood and have to weigh a certain amount and have some more restrictions that I did not hang around long enough to hear.  My boys have it covered!  We went out to the lakehouse this weekend.  the girls and I hung out,  while the boys were in the garage TCB.....taking care of business! They worked REALLY hard but had a GREAT time together!
They are starting to carve out the shape of the car from the block of wood
 Here's my Noodles working away
So much saw dust in the air
 He's so cute
Okay....one more pic of my Nicholas!!!
Daddy's way of cleaning up before lunch....remove all of the sawdust using a leaf blower!!
 Now the other side!!
Eat a quick lunch.....now back to work!
It is starting to show it's shape now.....what will it look like...it's a surprise!!
 Lots of hours of work
It's starting to take shape.....what was Nick's dream car shape this year.....
A hot dog car!!
Now that it is carved, now it's time to paint it...very carefully
Put the wheels on so that it can win the race!!
 IT IS COMPLETE....HOTDOG RACER!!!!
Isn't it amazing!! They did such a great job!! Daddy and Nicholas are a great team!!
Here she is...Will she win the race.....or at least win an award for creativity!!
Last important step.....the weigh in!!  It must be exactly the right weight or it will be disqualified!
The official weigh in is at the church the night before the race....for now, our "Weight Watchers" meat scale is as official as we can get.
There are my two boys!! I love them so much!!
(I just had to post one more pic of them while they were in the middle of carving the hotdog race car)

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!!!
(or as Madison would remind me, there is no such thing as luck....I mean that I am the most BLESSED girl in the world)

PINEWOOD DERBY RACE RESULTS

Here are some pics from the race.....it was a VERY exciting day, I must say!!

The crowd was all a buzz about the "hotdog" derby car

ON YOUR MARKS....(do you see the hotdog)
The announcer for the race said that Nick's hotdog was the "fastest food" he had ever seen!!
Here they come down the race track!
The anticipation is almost too much to take......who will win the race!!
They were SPEEDING so fast, if you weren't looking, you would've missed the entire thing......good thing I am a FAST photog!!
Nick's amazing hotdog wins!!
What a victory for hotdogs everywhere!!
(notice that at the bottom of the screen, they have Nicholas Lustig as the fastest speed record thus far in the Pinewood derby race)
Nick's race car finishes in 5th place over all in his division!!  Yeah, Nicholas!!
But that is not all......Nicholas won first place in the category of "Best Car Design"  Of course!!!  He is so creative
We are so proud of our sweet little man!!  Congrats Nicholas and thank you, Lord for Little boys and race cars!!

OUR SWEET DOG

I give our dog Max a hard time sometimes.....His full name is Maximilian Kolbe (After St. Maximilian Kolbe)
(This is St. Maximilian Kolbe)
(This is our Max)

He really is the sweetest, easiest dog in the whole world!! He is kind and gentle and super loving.  He and I are a lot alike.  We hate being cold and we love to cuddle and sleep in.
This is Max in the morning.  He does not like to got out to go potty until well after 10:00am.  This particular morning, I had to take a pic and text it to Daddy.  We had a surprise snowstorm during the night....it was actually thundering and snowing!!
Anyway, we woke up to a winter wonderland outside (God is amazing), so our homeschool had a pajama day!  I LOVE HOMESCHOOL!! We did all of our lessons by the fireplace.

Anyway...back to the point of this post.....Max got up to go potty, but when his nose felt the cold of the door opening and he saw the snow on the ground...he backed up and would not go out.....he went and got back into bed.  It was so cute!!

Max really makes us happy!  He is constantly making us smile!

Thank you God, for making this creature that brings us such joy!

CUPCAKES MADE FROM THE HEART

Our kids made cupcakes at their cousins' house this past weekend....Aunt Kiki is so much fun!!
Well, here are the finished cakes...no decoration left to chance!!
They were made with so much love for sure!!  Savannah made the one on the far left with Daddy in mind.  He loves his food spicy so she filled it with red hots!  Nick's is on the far right...he took artistic liberties by using a candy heart to drive a hole through the center of his cupcake down to the paper.....very unexpected, I must say.  Wonderful creativity.  Madison used lots of candies on her and put a surprise filling of icing in the middle to tantalize even the most picky of eaters!!

Our kids are so great!! My love for them is so strong that I cry sometimes just thinking about them....isn't that awesome!!  I LOVE, LOVING SO MUCH!!  They truly give me a small sliver of an idea of how much my Heavenly Father loves me!!!  His love is Perfect as mine is so imperfect!  I cannot wrap my head around how much He loves all of His children.  Wow, we are so blessed to have the King of the Universe as our Father!!
